UK permanent residence
Permanent status means you can stay in the UK indefinitely. You can work, study, and travel as a British citizen. This situation is also known as an indefinite leave of absence (ILR).
You no longer have immigration restrictions to work or do business in the UK and can stay in the country indefinitely. But if someone spends more than two years outside the UK, their rights may expire.
Benefits of Living Permanently in the UK
According to the Oxford University Migration Observatory, the UK population is very diverse, with 14% of people born in another country. Therefore, with a UK permanent residence permit, you can enjoy the rights granted to permanent residents, such as working, studying, or traveling, without restrictions. You will also have access to many public services and benefits, such as healthcare.
1. Application for British citizenship
As a permanent resident, you can apply for British citizenship one year after taking up this status. You must have been in the UK for five years before applying. The period can be three years, if your Partner is a British citizen. There are other ways to apply for British Citizenship, but this is the easiest.
2. Eligibility to enter the United Kingdom
Permanent residence in the United Kingdom (PR UK) also means the right to enter and leave the UK freely. You do not need to apply for a Visa every time you want to travel. However, note that you cannot be outside the UK for more than two years. Spend more than two years abroad. Your pre-established status will be revoked, and you must apply again, if you wish to continue your PR in the country.
3. Access to Work and Education
By becoming a permanent resident of the UK, you have access to educational facilities and employment opportunities, not available to those on a restricted visa. In addition, the Application-Process for some Positions will be much easier, if you have this Status. You also do not need to prove your right to work in the UK.
4. Bring the family members along.
Your close relatives (spouse or civil partner, children, grandchildren, parents, or grandparents) can apply for the EU-Settlement-Scheme. Members of your family (partner, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, cousin, niece and nephew) can apply, if they have a UK residence card. However, they must meet the same requirements as you to become a permanent resident in the UK.
5. Social Benefits
The UK Government offers social benefits to permanent residents. These include child benefit, unemployment benefit, social security fund, state pension contribution and more.
6. When it comes to health,
Diese means that you have the right to various medical treatments, such as access to hospitals and medicine.
7. Your child becomes a British Citizen.
Your PR-Status will also benefit your Children. Your child can be registered as a British citizen, if you are permanently resident in the UK. It will be a good choice for their future and your peace of mind.
8. Benefits of International Education for Your Child
International Student Discounts are available, if you and your child live permanently in the UK. SKA-Funds also help cover the costs of international education.
9. Housing allowance
Permanent residence in the UK will also give you access to housing benefits such as the private rented-sector-guaranteed-deposit-scheme or social rent. You can apply for a number of benefits and support from your municipality, including help to pay rent.
Having permanent residence in the UK is a great way to enjoy the rights and benefits of living in the UK.
