The Department of Public Safety and Community Development in the City of Chilliwack is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Crime Free Multi-Housing Liaison.

Are you what we’re looking for?
The successful candidate for this position will perform a variety of typing and clerical tasks of moderate complexity and responsibility; In Administration of Crime Free Multi-Housing Scheme. Incumbent will be required to type/prepare documents, reports and letters/materials related to the Crime Free Multi Housing Program. The incumbent will be involved in the day-to-day operations of Crime Free Multi Housing; Organization of property owners, including working, attending meetings for various working groups and committees. The incumbent will be required to interact with various RCMP members, community organizations, property owners and other police units. The incumbent will help organize and develop RCMP crime prevention programs.

We encourage you to apply if you have the following knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Must have a minimum of 12th standard education supplemented by typing and business studies, post-secondary education in criminology or social sciences. – or – an acceptable combination of education and experience;
  • Must have a valid BC driver’s license;
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Certificate in Crime Prevention by Environmental Design;
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience working in a police agency or criminal justice system;
  • Must have knowledge of residential tenancy law relevant to employment;
  • Experience and knowledge of developing programs and social security and awareness;
  • Ability to prepare brief reports and letters;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience leading a team of employees;
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department officials and other staff;
  • Be able to qualify and maintain the security clearance required for the position.

The hourly wage rate at this position is $35.26 (2024 rate). A person in this class will generally work the hours specified in a standard work week, Monday through Friday, and occasionally work authorized overtime.
