The Department of Engineering, Parks and Environment (Engineering Operations) requires a temporary full-time Assistant Supervisor, Operations – Utilities (Water) until approximately September 2025.

You will participate in the work planning and assignment of a small team of subordinates involved in water construction and maintenance tasks such as maintaining and repairing water systems and facilities, coordinating and directing truck drivers and equipment operators, and outside work. Contractors. Requires thorough knowledge of methods, procedures, practices and materials, tools and equipment used in water/utility operations, maintenance and construction operations while ensuring performance standards, specifications and safety procedures are met.

In the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) you will have completed 12th grade in addition to courses towards certification in Water Supply, and have completed at least Water Supply 1. You will have substantial knowledge and direct relevant experience in application construction and maintenance activities. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft and Hansen or similar financial and asset management systems. You have the ability to supervise and assist the work of a small team of employees, read construction drawings, prepare work records with Microsoft and a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license. You must deal effectively with the public and embrace values ​​such as teamwork, respect, positive attitude, professionalism and integrity. You must also have demonstrated the ability to direct the work of others.

For temporary full-time positions of 8 months or longer, a city employee who is successful in the posting is entitled to return to his previous position.

Salary:
$36.68 per hour

Working hours:
Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
